题目列表(包括答案和解析)

Dear Annie,

I have never written a letter to a newspaper before, I have just never felt the need to do such a thing. I have always felt I was quite able to do everything by myself. But now I know I was wrong.

Sometimes you really need help in life, I guess. And that’s why I’m writing this letter to you.

I have a happy family. I love my children and they love me . I’m a mother of three children. I know well how to bring up (带大)children, and two of them are already over twenty, so it is nothing new for me.

But now I have a serious problem:the Internet problem. My little son is just sixteen, and I feel he should do a lot of homework now , but he doesn’t seem to be interested in it . He can happily spend six or eight hours at a time on the Tnternet every day , He chats with pelple that he has never met before , but speaks little to us .He does lots of useless things on the Internet. And he sees red if you ask him to do his homework.

I just want him to be a good student . Now he seldomdoes his lessons at home. I’m afraid he will drop behind in his class soon. His father is a doctor , a very kind man . He never seems to be afraid of his father.

What can I do ?And don’t tell to talk to him. We’ve tried that and it didn’t work. But this is really a big problem in our family. I have tried everything I can think of . I

wonder how the Internet is so attractive(有吸引力的).You’re my last hope. Please tell me what I can do!

Yours,

Ellen Smith

Some people think only school children do not agree with their parents, however, it is not true. Communication is a problem for parents and children of all ages. If it's hard for you to communicate with your parents, don't worry about it. Here are some advice for you to bridge the generation gap(消除代沟).

Don't argue(争辩) with your parents. Don't get to your parents when you are angry. Your parents probably won't agree with your ideas if you are shouting at them. And you can't express yourself well if you are angry. Go someplace to cool off. Make sure you understand why you are unhappy. Then think about what you want to say to your parents. If you don't think you can speak to them at the moment, try writing a letter.

Try to reach a compromise(和解). Perhaps you and your parents disagree on something. You can keep your disagreement and try your best to accept each other. Michael's mother didn't agree with him about buying a motorcycle. They argued over it. But they finally came to a compromise. Michael bought the motorcycle, but only drove it on certain days.

Of course, your parents might refuse to compromise on something. In these situations, it is especially important to show love and respect(尊敬) to them. Showing respect will keep your relationship strong.

Talk about your values(价值观). The values of your parents are probably different from those of your own. Tell your parents what you care about and why. Understanding your values might help them see your purposes in life.

A good relationship with your parents can make you a better and happier person. It is worth having a try.

A new kind of Sports shoes have been worked out in the UK recently. They can work out whether their owner has done enough exercise to allow time in front of the television.

The shoes-named Square Eyes-have an electronic sensor and a small computer chip (芯片) to record how many steps the wearer has taken in a day.A wireless transmitter(无线传导器) passes the information to a receiver connected to a television, and this decides how much evening viewing time the wearer can have, depended on the day’s efforts.

The idea was encouraged by a wish to fight against overweight among British teenagers, says Gillian Swan, who developed Square Eyes. “We considered the problems and childhood overweight really stood out.” She says, “And I wanted to work out that with my idea.”

Once a child has used up their daily allowance(许可) got through exercise, the television itself turns off. And further time in front of the TV can only be got through more steps.

Swan thought over how exercise should change to television time.Health experts suggest that a child take 12,000 steps each day and watch no more than two hours of television. So, every 100 steps recorded by the Square Eyes shoes means one minute of TV time.

Other similar sports shoes normally keep count of steps by measuring(测量) sudden movement. Swan says people may easily get recording steps through shaking. But her shoes have been built to be harder for lazy teenagers to cheat. “It is possible, but it would be a lot of effort,” she says. “That was one of my main invention considerations.”
