Computer people talk a lot about the need for other people to become " computer-literate".But not all experts agree that this is a good idea.

One pioneer, in particular, who disagrees is David Tebbutt, the founder of Computer town UK.Although many people see this as a successful attempt to bring people closer to the computer, David does not see it that way.He says that Computer town UK was formed for just the opposite reason, to bring computers to people and make them" people-literate".

David Tebbutt thinks Computer towns are most successful when tied to a computer club but he insists there is an important difference between the two.The clubs are for people who have some computer knowledge already. This frightens away non-experts, who are happier going to Computer towns where there are computers for them to experiment on, with experts to encourage them and answer any questions they have. They are not told what to do, they find out.The computer experts have to learn not to tell people about computers, but have to be able to answer all questions people ask.People don't have to learn computer terms(术语), but the experts have to explain in simple language. The computers are becoming "people-literate".

阅读下列短文,根据短文中的信息完成文后表格。在标有题号的横线上,写出空缺处所填单词的正确形式。(每空一词)

What do we really mean by being open? Being open is a kind of invitation to others to come in, to speak and to share. It is important in letting others get to know how we think and feel. In this way we will be understood and accepted by others. If we aren’t open with others, we won’t fully believe in ourselves or others.

Here are a few ways for you to be more open. First, make your outside behavior the same with your inside feelings and thoughts. Second, share how you really feel about something instead of just opinions. Third, try to change your questions into statements(陈述) and talk in the first person so that people will understand you more easily. For example, you might say, “I feel happy that you’re here,” instead of, “Are you glad that you’re here?” Finally, try not to say, “I don’t know.” This usually means I don’t want to think about it any more.

Remember also that it is not suitable to be open with everyone in every situation. You may want to be more open with close friends, but not with people you don’t know well, because you are not sure how someone else will use what they know about you. Besides, some people may not be used to too much openness. If we say everything we feel or think to them, they will feel very uncomfortable at times.

In all, being open is a good way for us to get on well with other people, but we’d better keep the balance between being open and not being too open.

任务型阅读(共5小题;每小题1分,满分5分)

请认真阅读下面短文,在表格中填入适当的单词(注意:每空1个单词)。

How to protect children from unsafe material online has long been discussed in the USA. For some parents, the Internet seems like a jungle, filled with danger for their children. But jungles contain (包括) wonders as well as dangers.

Most kids have started to use search engines. Many of them are great at finding lots of interesting websites, and they can also locate places where you might not want your kids to go. There are search engines designed just for kids. A certain software contains only sites that have been selected as safe. The most popular way to limit access would be to use what is known as a ‘content screener (过滤器)’. But this can’t be wholly reliable (可靠的), and the best thing parents can do is to talk to their kids and let them know what is OK or not OK to see or do on the Internet. Another way is that Mum or Dad is nearby when the child is surfing the Internet.
