Dear Jenny,
How’s it going? Are you busy with your study these days?
I’ve been back at school 41 nearly four weeks. I’m very glad to tell you that great 42 have taken place in our school this term. First of all, we’re asked to “clear our plates” when having our meals and say 43 to wasting. Some of us used to order more than what we could eat. That was a big waste of food. Now we need to 44 the food we order. We should also stop wasting in some other ways. For example, we should turn off the lights when we 45 the classroom. And our school has opened up some fields for us to learn how to grow vegetables. Each class is given a small garden and our class has decided to grow some tomatoes and beans( 豆类) in our 46 time. I think that’ll be very interesting. Maybe I’ll be able to 47 you some beans we’ve grown by ourselves next time! What’s more, we have only two classes in the afternoon 48 we have more time for after-school activities. I’m one of the traffic safety volunteers in our school. After school, we take turns to go to the streets near our school and ask people to 49 the traffic rules.
I think we are having a different school life now!

Do you have any problems in your life and don’t know how to be happy ? If so, you will find Being a Happy Teenager written by an Australian writer Andrew Matthews.
In his book, Matthews tells us how to have a happy life and answers the questions of teenagers. There are many subjects, such as parents and friends, and the book says we should stop being angry and should forgive (宽恕). The book tells us some useful ways, such as how to understand better what you learned. Many teenagers think that happiness comes from a good exam result or praise(表扬) from other people. But you can still be happy when there are no such “good” things.
Success comes from a good attitude (态度). If you learn from problems, you will have success in the future. Some school students have problems, such as being too tall or too short. But Matthews tells us that happiness comes from thinking in a positive (积极的) way. If you are tall, you can get a better view(视线)when you see a film; if you are short, your clothes and shoes take less room in your bedroom! This is Matthews’ most important lesson: “ You choose to be happy!”

A man bought a donkey at the market one day and took him home. Now the man owned several donkeys already and he knew each one’s character very well. One of the donkeys was very strong and brave. Another always wanted to make people happy by working quickly but soon got tired. One donkey was very lazy. He hated going to work in the morning and he did as little as he possibly could all day long. When the other animals were being loaded up(装载), he always tried to be the last so that he would get the lightest load.
The man led the new donkey into the yard. For a moment the new donkey stood sniffing(闻,嗅) at his new friends. Then, without hesitation, he came up to the lazy donkey and began eating comfortably at his side.
Though it was late in the day, the man immediately led the new donkey out of the yard, straight back to the market.
“You can’t have given him a fair trial yet,” said the seller, “It is only ten minutes since you bought him.”
“I don’t need to try him any more,” replied the man, “I know just what he is like from the friend he chose for himself. Take him away and give me my money back. I can do without donkeys like him.”
