    Sally Ride, America's first spacewoman, doesn't look very different from a lot of other American women. She is attractive, with brown hair, dark brown eyes, and a bright smile. She likes to dress simply: she wears comfortable but colorful clothes. But in 1983 Sally Ride became American's flint woman astronaut (宇航员). She was one of five astronaut on the space shuttle(航天飞机) “Challenger” , which had a successful six-day trip in space in June 1983.

    Sally Ride grew up in Los Angeles, California. Her father is a professor at Santa Monica College, and her mother is a housewife. At Westlake High School for girls, she was both an excellent student and tennis player. Today she still looks like a sportswoman. She is 5 feet, 4 inches tall, weight 103 pounds. When she was still a student, she became a very successful tennis player. She thought about becoming a professional sportswoman~, but decided to go on to college.

    At high school, she became interest in science after finishing her studies. At the university, she worked as a researcher. In 1977 she was one of 1,000 women and 7,000men who applied (申请) for the astronaut training program. She was 25.

            Everyone needs friends. There is an old saying: Friends are God's way of taking care of us. But how
    do you find real friendship and keep it?"
            The Care and Keeping of Friends" by American author Sally Seamans tells young students some smart
    ways to find friends. 
            Sally says finding friendship is just like planting a tree. You plant the seed and take care of it to make it
    grow.
            First, you should choose a friend. What makes a good friend? It is not because a person has money
    or good looks. A good friend should be kind and patient. For example, if you have a bad day, a good friend
    should listen to your complaints (抱怨) and do their best to help. To make a friend, you cannot be too shy.
    You should make each other happy and share your lives.
            But things cannot always be happy. Even the best friends have fights. What should you do when you
    have a fight with your friend? You have to talk to them. When there is no one around, have an honest talk.
    If he or she doesn't want to talk, you could write a letter.
            Sally says there are three steps to being friends again: Tell him or her how you are feeling; say what
    your friend has done wrong, and explain why you did this or that. The book also has advice on some small
    but important things like celebrating your friends' success. Even if you haven't had a real friend before, you
    will start to think of having one if you read this book. Because the book tells that friendship is the most
    important thing in your life.

         "Chage and Aska" is one of Japan's most successful singing groups. Chage and Aska began making
    music together in 1979. Now, more than 20 years and 200 songs later, they are still popular in Japan
    and around the world.
         Chage (real name: Shuji Shibata) and Aska (real name: Shigeaki Miyazaki) first met in high school. In
    1979, they entered the Yamaha Popular Song Contest. They won the grand prize (大奖). That year,
    their group "Chage and Aska" was born.
         Their most successful year was 1991. Their album Tree sold 2. 5 million copies in Japan. The single
    from that album, Say Yes, sold three million copies. That year, they won six Japan Golden Disc awards,
