　　Dinosaurs lived on Earth a long time age; some dinosaurs were huge and had long tails-they were bigger than a whole family of elephants. Others were very small-they were about the size of a chicken. Not all dinosaurs ate meat. Some just ate plants. Not all of them were dangerous. Some were harmless.

　　Dinosaurs lived on Earth for about 135 million years. Man has lived here for only 35,000 years About 65 million years ago, however, all the dinosaurs died in a very short period of time. Nobody knows why it happened suddenly.

　　How do we know about dinosaurs?

　　Scientists study dinosaur bones and eggs to get information. They discover how dinosaurs lived, what they looked like, where they lived and what they ate. Scientists now believe that dinosaurs were very colorful animals.

　　Were they clever animals?

　　In the past, scientists thought that dinosaurs were slow and stupid. We now know that many dinosaurs were fast and powerful. Some were not only fast, but clever too. They used the long claws on their feet to kill their food. Other dinosaurs were probably very stupid. One very large dinosaur had a brain the size of a peanut!

　　Do you think they could ever live on Earth again?

　　In the Hollywood film Jurassic Park, a scientist brings dinosaurs back to life from an old egg. Scientists in China recently found some dinosaur eggs similar to the one in the film. Could they bring dinosaurs back to life? It is unlikely, but in science, anything seems possible!

        But the storm wasn’t all fun games. Typhoon Khanun killed 14 people. In Zhejiang, it damaged about 8,000 houses. More than one million people had to be taken to safer places.

        Every year, typhoons hit different places around the world. Most happen in July, August and September. This year 15 typhoons hit China. Khanun was the strongest. Typhoons bring strong winds and rains. The winds can blow away houses and cars. The rains are bad for farmers’ fields.

       Typhoon also kills people. Earlier this month, Typhoon Talim hit East and Central China. It killed at least 124 people.

The Bermuda Triangle(百慕大三角)is in the Atlantic Ocean, near Florida in the USA. During the past 60 years, more than 1,000 seamen in ships and pilots in planes have lost their lives. It is known as “The Triangle of Death”for its strange seawater and sudden storms. What's the strangest is the light of the seawater, which looks so bright that it can be seen even from an outer spaceship.

　　At 2:00p.m. on Dec. 5, 1945, five planes took off in fine weather from the airport of Florida, on a training task. Two hours later, the leader in the sky radioed that he was “completely lost”. Then there was silence. Another plane was sent to look for them and also disappeared.

　　One of the largest ship that had disappeared in the triangle was an American coal ship, 500meters long. The weather was good, and there were no messages for help before it was “gone”. No broken ships or dead bodies have been found so far.

　　No one is able to tell how all these accidents have happened. A group of Japanese scientists were there to see what it was really like in 1995, but nothing has been heard of them ever since.
