My father died when I was nine months old. Mom and I lived a very hard life. We had little money, but my mom gave me a lot of love. At fourteen, I was hit by a car and the doctors said I would never walk again. A year later, I returned to school — walking on my own!

Today was not a good day. Everything went wrong. First, I slept late and Mom shouted at me to wake up. When I went to the kitchen for breakfast, there was no cereal. I decided to have some toast instead, but I burned it. I had to eat it anyway because there was no more bread. The juice bottle was empty, so I had a glass of cold water.
