Dear editor,

　　I live in a beautiful city．Many visitors come to my city．There are so many colourful peacocks here．

　　The peacocks mostly live on the grass land of Dongfeng Square．They are given food freely by visitors．The usually throw food to them, and don’t think about at all whether the food is right or not．Some of the peacocks became ill, some even died after eating the bad food given by the visitors．

　　I’m sure most of the visitors who throw food to the peacocks really like the birds, but don’t realize that they may be doing them harm．

　　The visitors should he told that what they have done is very harmful to the birds and this kind of thing most be stopped from happening．

　　Perhaps we can build some small shops beside Dongfeng Square to sell peacock food．For us every person, it’s our duty to give more love to these beautiful birds and to look after them carefully．

　　Rules of Reading Club

　　The following rules will be used for the Reading Club：

　　1.All books must be read from page one to the last page in the book.

　　2.The parent or the teacher will initial(write the first letter of one's name)the booklist after a student has finished reading a book.Teachers will initial the booklist only for the books read at school.It is the responsibility(责任)of the student and the parent to write the names of all books read,and the number of pages of the book on the booklist.　　

　　3.All books read must be of the student's reading level(水平)or above.Example：A third grade student should not read first grade books if he or she is able to read at a third grade or higher reading level.

　　4.All books the student finished during the school year(including the textbooks read at school)will be counted towards 100 books.Comic books(漫画书)and picture books will not be counted.Books of good quality(高质量的)read from the school library,the public library,the classroom,home,etc.will be counted.

　　5.When a student has finished a club booklist(one sheet of 25 books or 1,500 pages),he or she should bring the sheet to the office.The child will get a small reward(奖励)and may get another piece of booklist to go on reading.

　　It takes four booklist sheets for 100 books or four 1,500 pages to reach 6,000 pages.Either way you're a winner!

　　“Who has more questions, a teacher or a student?” About this question a great learned man told his student that nobody does but a teacher．

　　The student got puzzled．With a smile, the teacher drew two circles(圆)．Within(在……里面)the larger one is my knowledge of things, and within the smaller one is yours．Out of the circles is still unknown to both of us．Since mine is larger, as you can see, the line that marks out the circle is longer．That makes it clear that who has more chances(机会)to face something still unknown．
