  There are two McDonalds-Mac and Dick-and they are brothers. They like working in their restaurant(饭店), but they get tired of the customers(顾客) ordering so many different things to eat.

  “If we give customers a smaller menu(菜单), we can make some of the food before they come, and they needn't wait so long for their meals.” says one of the brothers. The other brother says “yes”. He says, “If we can make the customers come to the counter(柜台), we don't need any waiters or waitresses. We can also use plastic(塑料的) plates.”

  McDonald brothers begin to use these good ideas, and the customers are very pleased. They get their meals very quickly-in less than(不到) a minute-and they pay only 15 cents(分) for hamburgers and 10 cents for fries. The first McDonald's restaurant had no seats for customers to sit on. People take their food away and no one has to clean up any tables after them.

  Then a man called Ray Kroc comes to the brothers and asks to buy their business. They agree to sell it to him for $27 million(百万). After that, people pay Ray Kroc to open their own restaurants using the McDonald's name. Before long(不久以后), there are McDonald's restaurants all over the USA, and now, they are all over the world-even in China. The most successful(成功的) McDonald's business is in HK, China.

  When we talk about stars, especially women stars, it seems that they are always young, pretty and own charming body shapes.But recently a Britain’s Got Talent(英国达人)star Susan Boyle has changed our views absolutely.

  Simon Cowell, one of the judges of the talent show spoke of his shock over Ms Boyle’s voice.“This lady camp up, and I’m thinking, ‘This will take five seconds and I can go to have a cup of tea’.That changed when she began to sing I Dreamed to Dream from Les Miserables.She knew we were going to have that reaction and just to see that look of satisfaction on her face widway through-it was one of my favorite moments, ”Cowell said.

  The performance was posted on line and before long, the 47-year-old Scottish woman has been famous all over the world.

  Speaking from her home in Scotland, Ms Boyle said that she hasn’t thought of changing her appearance.She said that her friend helped her with make-up.“I mean, that’s hardly a makeover, ”she added.

  Ms Boyle also spoke of the reason she first began to explore her vocal talents, “I was kind of slow at school, so getting like singing was a good way of hiding behind that and thus it built my confidence.”

  The great ship, “Titanic” , sailed (航行) for New York on april 10th, 1912. She was carrying more than 2000 people.
