Today's Women
People like to say: “The hand that rocks (摇动) the cradle (摇篮) rules the world.” Or they say: “Behind every successful man, there is a woman.”
1 But some women want more for themselves. They want good jobs. When they work, they want more pay. They want to be as successful as men.
2 Even when women do the same work, they are often paid less than men. Some women want these things changed. They want to stand beside the men, with the same chances for success.

Even a child knows that nodding(点头)the head means“Yes”. But some people will probably be puzzled(迷惑的)when they first come to India. When they talk to an Indian, he often shakes(摇)his head. They might think that the Indian does not like what he said, but on the contrary, he is telling yes.
