    　　Matt grows the nicest vegetables in the village. He grows sweet pears and apples. And what else? Well, the biggest and the most beautiful flowers.

    　　Things grow in Matt's garden all the year round. He cuts some flowers for his sitting room table, and, of course, he eats some fruit and vegetables. But he sells everything else in the market. Matt is not a poor man.

    　　He knows a few other gardeners, but he has not any friends. People there don't understand him and his garden. Matt plants things in spring, summer, autumn and winter in his garden. After that, he does very little work. He just sits down in the garden with his small radio. And then everything grows.

    　　People don't know why Matt grows so wonderful things. Sometimes he waters the plants and most time he does nothing but listen to his radio under an old apple tree. He listens to the radio all day! But his plants grow the best! And it's quite true! People there don't understand it, so they don't like Matt very much. And so nobody would like to make friends with him.

    　　Matt likes music. And all the plants love the music, too! Matt knows it well. So, he often sits in his garden and listens to his radio. It's the music that does the work.
