Jack worked in a shop that sold clocks. He was always telling Harry  26 a new clock. But Harry,  27 lived next door to Jack, said he didn’t need one.
“  28 needs a clock,” Jack said. “How do you know when it’s time to get up?”
“My landlord Mr. Smith turns on his radio at seven o’clock and listens  29 the news,” Harry said. “That’s my morning call.”
“Ok. But how do you know when to go to work?”
“By the time I  30 my breakfast, it’s eight o’clock, time to leave for the office. Then I walk there. When I arrive at my office, it’s nice o’clock. That’s  31 time I start work.”
“Ok. But how do you know when it’s time to go home?”
“The factory bell  32 ” Harry told him.
“But how do you know when it’s time to go to bed?”
“The television programs come to end.”
By now Jack was really  33 . “Ok,” he shouted. “Now tell me what would happen  34 you woke up in the middle of the night and wanted to know the time.”
“That’s easy,” Harry said, “I would knock heavily on  35 wall. Then you would shout at me, ‘What are you doing knocking on my wall at three o’clock in the morning?’”

Last night I had a wonderful dream. I   66  that I turned into a good swimmer.

In my dream, the weather   67  fine and I came to a nice beach. There were few people on the beach and I   68  to swim in the sea. While I was swimming, some   69  fish followed me all the time.   73  I heard a voice, “Weiwei, it’s time to get up! Breakfast is ready!” It was Mom’s voice. Just then I woke up from my sweet dream   74  had to face the real world again.

“Get up, get up, Jim. It’s time to get up!” mother said while she was   1  me. I opened my eyes and looked at the clock. “Oh, dear! It’s a quarter to eight already. I’ll be late for school again,” I thought. I  2    out of the bed, washed my face, and then hurried to the bus stop without breakfast. As soon as I   3 the bus, it started running. “I’m sure I can get to school in time,” I said to myself. Suddenly the bus stopped. The bus driver got off the bus, then got on the bus again and said, “I’m sorry, ladies and gentlemen. There’s   4 wrong with the bus. Please get off the bus and wait for another one. ” “I couldn’t wait. The school is not   5 . I’d better run to school,” I thought, and then I began to run. But before I got to school, it began to   6    heavily.
When I  7    the classroom, I was wet shivering (发抖) with cold. The physics teacher had already begun his lesson. It was Mr Smith. He was about fifty years old. All the students were a little afraid of him and—so was I. I liked neither him nor his physics lessons. I hesitated (犹豫) for a moment, and then I opened the door. “I’m very sorry, Mr Smith. I'm late again,” I said with a red face.
“It’s you again, Jim,” Mr Smith said  8  , “I’ve told you not to be late, but you... ” He suddenly stopped and looked at my wet clothes. He turned to   9  and said, “I’m very sorry, my boys and girls,”  With these words he quickly took off his own jacket and handed it to me. “Now, take off your wet coat and put this one on, or you'll catch cold. ” he said kindly.
I went to my seat with Mr Smith’s jacket on. It was a bit larger for me but I felt very  10   in it. I found, for the first time, physics was so interesting and how well I could understand it!

“Happy Birthday!” David awoke to the voice of his mother. “It’s time to get up and drive out to 35  grandfather’s farm.”  

“Why do we have to go there? And how long is the drive?” he asked with a sad look in his eyes.

“About two hours…and don’t worry, we’ ll bring your birthday   36  with us.” His mother walked away and left him to get ready. 

In less than an hour, David and his parents were on their way.   37  of what the colorful birthday packages had inside filled his head. He was   38  that one had the baseball glove he wanted, while others would have amazing things that he had dreamed about. David looked at the small box, thinking money or jewels might be inside…. When he opened the box, David was   43  to see only a stone. It was a very beautiful stone, but was it valuable?

Grandfather spoke more slowly than before, “David, when your grandma and I were first married, we had very little money. She wanted to give me something special for my birthday, so she found this beautiful rock and polished(打磨)it day and night   44  it shined. It was the greatest gift I ever   45  because it came from your grandma’s heart. Now, I want you to have it because it comes from my heart.” 

David held the stone in his hand and   46  the love of his grandfather. “This is a wonderful gift…thank you, Grandfather.” He knew he had received the best gift ever.
