When she was a little girl she worked to get money to pay for her lessons. She became the most famous woman scientist(科学家) of the time. That is the story of Marie Curie's life.
Marie was born in 1867. She lived in Poland. Her father, Mr Sklodovska, was a teacher. Everyone soon saw that Marie had a quick mind(思想). When she was quite young, she loved to spend hours reading books. But her body was thin and weak, so her mother often asked her to leave her lessons and play out in the sun.

Marie and her elder sister, Bronya, dreamed of studying in France. But their father did not have enough money to send them there. With tears(眼泪) in their eyes the girls said goodbye to each other, and Marie worked very hard for six years to pay for her sister' s studies. At last it was Marie's turn, but by the time she got to France, her sister was married(结婚) and could not give her much help.
