I once met a middle-aged stranger who said his money had been stolen at the railway station，so he had no money to go home. He begged for help from passers-by，but they all pretended not to have heard what he was saying and went by quickly. Then he stopped me and wanted me to give him the help. At first I could not accept that because I didn't think he was telling the truth. But when I saw tears in his eyes，I began to believe that he might be in the real trouble，so，just immediately I gave him all the money I had. When he took the money， his face turned red. Before he left，he expressed his great thanks and also said he would give back my money when he reached home.
When I came back to school and told my classmates about my story，they held different opinions. Some of them thought that I did a good deed to have given a hand to the person in trouble，while others said that I was cheated. Some even laughed at me and called me a fool who could not judge things in the right way. Now，I am really confused！

There is a growing debate about the most effective way' for students to study．Traditionally studying alone was thought to be the best way to ensure good exam results．When studying alone you can focus your mind better than when you are with others．Ybu also have the freedom to choose what topic to study and when, as you don't need file a~eement of others．Students that prefer to study alone often say that when they s~dy with their classmates they waste a lot of time because the discussion is often about non-study topics such as television or holidays．
In the last few years, however, more and more students have started studying in groups．There are several reasons many students prefer this method．First, they find that studying is more fun as they can share the experience with others rather than staying in their rooms．In groups, they can discuss the subject together and when something is not understood they can ask each other questions．They can use the knowledge of their classmates to help improve their own knowledge．Finally by discussing the topic they, are able to both understand and remember it better．

Dear editor．
I used to imagine the beautiful school life without any pressure, in the beautiful camps like heaven; we experienced lots of new things and enjoyed our youth．At that time I was really happy, even though what we did every day was just sinking ourselves in the boring books．
But, I knew I was totally wrong after I came to senior three．We were overloaded with various assignments; we had to memorize a lot of difficult English words so as to achieve higher scores on the exams．In addition, for the sake of our future, we had to take the coursed not only in our own major but also in some related fields．We felt that once we slowed down, we might fall into a low position in class．Too much pressure has injured our mental and physical health as we suffer from nervousness, tiredness, sleeplessness and depression．Many of us have tried very hard at school but they failed in certain examinations and have disappointed their parents．Such students feel that they are less important than everyone else they meet and leave school before they have finished their study．I am just very upset with the present situation and I don’t know what I should do．

Most people feel lonely sometimes, but it usually only lasts between a few minutes and a few hours. This kind of loneliness is not serious. In fact, It is quite normal. For some people, though, loneliness can last for years. Psychologists are studying this complex phenomenon in an attempt to better understand long-term loneliness. These researchers have already identified three different types of loneliness.
The first kind of loneliness is temporary. This is the most common type. It usually disappears quickly and does not require any special attention.
The second kind, situational loneliness, is a natural result of a particular situation ---for example, a divorce, the death of a loved once, or moving to a new place. Although this kind of loneliness can cause physical problems, such as headaches and sleeplessness, it usually does not last for more than a year. Situational loneliness is easy to understand and to predict.
The third kind of loneliness is the most severe. Unlike the second type, chronic loneliness usually lasts more than two years and has no specific cause. People who experience habitual loneliness have problems socializing and becoming close to others. Unfortunately, many chronically lonely people think there is little or nothing they can do to improve their condition.
