After my 26 second-graders finished reciting the text, they settled back in their seats. But Duane was still __21__ there. On August 26, 1999, New York City was struck by a terrible rainstorm. The rain caused the streets   21  and the subway system almost came to a stop.

Unfortunately, this happened during the morning rush hour. Many people who were going to work were  22  to go home. Some battled to  23  a taxi or to get on a bus. Still others faced the   24  bravely, walking miles to get to work.

More than 26 million Americans took part in the Vietnam (越南)War. More than 58,000 of them  21 ; over 300,000 were  22 , and nearly 2300 were missing and thought dead.
