I have a love-hate feeling with 8 O’clock classes. I like to get started that early, but most students don’t. They
usually came in late and looked sleepy at that hour.
A. One day I was really angry at it. I was excited about the history lesson, but no one else seemed to be. I wrote things on the blackboard. I moved around the room. I told stories. I tried humor. It was useless. Their looks didn’t seem to change. I was frustrated(沮丧的).
B. The tiredness lifted. I had done better than I thought. I don’t know if Randy will ever understand how much he did for me that day.
C. Randy sat at the back of the classroom. I thought he wanted to ask why I didn’t correct their exam papers or maybe he wanted to ask for leave. It was none of that. With his eyes sparkling(闪着泪花) , Randy said, “This is the first time I’ve not wanted a college class to end.”
D.I forgot to keep time. I was going to talk more when I looked down at my watch. It was already two minutes past the end of class .So I just ended suddenly and soon the students began to pick up their book bags and rushed out the door on their way to another class.
E. While I was watching them leaving, I put away my own books, notes and papers. I took them up and stepped out into the hall. I was tired and a bit sad. I had put everything I knew into that class and it had not seemed to work. Then, as I started across the hall to my nearby office, a student came out the back door of the classroom and caught up with me.

It’s the moment for your big math exam. You wait nervously for the test to drop onto your desk.
A. I saw almost the same thing happen in my English class. In a test, six or seven students read pieces of cheat papers under their seats.
B. You’ve probably heard teacher say, “I want to see your own work, not that of the person next to you’a million times, but it’s true. Your performance cannot be measured by your classmate’s work.
C.I am angry with these acts of dishonesty. I’m not saying that I’m a good student or that I’ve never cheated. I once wrote the answers on my hand for a history test and, unluckily, was caught by my teacher. Because this teacher was one of my favorites, there were no words to describe how sorry I felt at once. I thought cheating would help me keep my straight A’s. Little did I know that I was only hurting myself.
D. Maybe students feel the need to cheat because of pressure (压力) from parents, teachers, and even classmates. However, teachers and parents want students to succeed by learning on their own and doing the best they can.
E. Your teacher says to begin. You pick up your pencil, ready to answer the first question. Seconds later, you nervously look at the paper of the boy next to you, and start to copy his answers.

This year, Sichuan schools decide to start morning classes an hour later. This will help students feel less tired.
And most junior high schools will begin the first class at about 8:30am.
A. Wu Hongli feels the same. She said the new timetable was good for her health. “I used to get up at 6:30am. I had to drink coffee every night, or I would feel too sleepy to finish my homework,” said Wu. “Now I can finish it without coffee. Because I can sleep a little longer.”
B. The students are happy about the change.
C. But some parents are worried that more sleep will mean less learning. There used to be five classes in the morning. Now there are only four.
D. Many teachers say the change will help students learn better. “Students used to doze(打盹) for the first two classes in the morning,” said Huang Shan, an English teacher at Chengdu No.12 Middle school. “But now they are active in class and learn much better than before.”
E. In fact, every coin has two sides. So does the change in the school timetable.
