    　　解析：解答此类题的第一步是理解，并依此推测空白处应填单词的含义。有时仅根据上下文来推测可能有多个词可填，因此第二步就是根据所给首字母缩小选择范围。即所填词应同时满足两个条件：既要具有前面已推测出来的含义，又以该字母开头。但有时同时能满足两个条件的词也不止一个，此时就应仔细推敲，找出含有关键信息的部分，并充分运用所学知识(包括其他学科知识)甚至是生活常识而最终确定答案。例如：On my birthday my friends sent me a lot of p　　　　.本句大意为“我生日那天朋友们送我许多(东西)。”“东西”的外延很大，但根据首字母p可把范围缩小为“pictures(图画)”、“paintings(油画)”、“postcards(明信片)”、“presents(礼物)”等等。把每个词放到句子里都能使句意完整，语法正确。但仔细推敲，presents是其他各词的总称，该句的语境是“生日”这个特定的场景，在没有上下文明示或暗示所赠送的具体物品时，根据日常生活习惯和语言习惯，送“生日礼物”应比其他说法更佳。另外要注意的是空白前有a lot of，所填单词要变复数。

    　　拓展延伸：解答此类题须做到：1)读懂句意；2)在可选范围较广的情况下，要反复研读句子，从上下文中找出蛛丝马迹，逐一排除欠佳的答案。
