We spent a day in the country and picked a lot of flowers. Our car was      of flowers inside!       the way home we had to stop at traffic lights, and there my wife saw the bookshelf.
It stood outside a furniture(家具)shop. “Buy it,” she said at once. “We’ll carry it home on the roof-rack(车顶架). I’ve always wanted        like that.”
What could I do? Ten minutes         I was twenty dollars poorer, and the bookshelf was tied on to the roof-rack. It was tall and narrow, quite heavy       .
As it was        darker, I drove slowly. Other drivers seemed more polite than usual that evening. The police even stopped traffic to let        through. Carrying furniture was a good idea.
After a time my wife said, “There         a long line of cars behind. Why don’t they overtake(超车)?”
Just at that time a police car did overtake. The two police officers looked at us seriously when they went past.       then, with         kind smile they asked us to follow their car through the busy        . The police car stopped at our village church. One of the officers came to me.
“Right, sir,” he said. “Do you need any more help now?”
I didn’t quite understand. “Thanks, officer,” I said. “You’ve         very kind. I live just down the road.”
He was looking at our things: first at the flowers,         at the bookshelf. “Well, well,” he said and laughed. “It’s a bookshelf you’ve got there! We thought it was      else.”
My wife began to laugh. Suddenly I understood        the police drove here. I smiled at the officer. “Yes, it’s a bookshelf, but thanks again.” I drove home as fast as I could.”

There is a bar (酒吧) in our town with the name "The White Horse". It is Mr Webster’s.        people went to the bar last year. But things are quite different now.
There was a picture of a white horse on the door of the bar. Then a stranger came in one day, drank something,          around the bar, and then said to Mr. Webster, “Few people come here. Take down the picture of the white horse and put a picture of a black horse         .”
“But the name of the bar is The White Horse,” Mr. Webster said. “Yes, but do it.” the man said. Then he went out of the bar. Mr. Webster went to        and said, “I want a picture of a black horse.”
later a picture of a black horse was on the door of the bar instead of the white horse. Soon after the door        , a man came in and said, “There’s a         on the door of your bar. It is surprising that the picture is different from the name.” The man looked, sat down and           something. Then another man came in and said      , and then another and another. A lot of people came in and said, “The picture on your door is         ,” and they all stopped and drank in Mr. Webster’s bar.

Last Friday my friend Deborah asked me if I would like to learn how to make tofu. I couldn’t think of any good reason not to be interested in, so I said, "Yes". The next day I met her and another three nice people at the Hodo Soy Beanery Oakland. I enjoyed the trip. I got a lot from the trip. The following is what I learnt.
Tofu has a history of 2,000 years. Although the word "tofu" is from Japanese, the food maybe comes from China. There are two main kinds of tofu: soft tofu (软豆腐) and firm tofu (硬豆腐). In some parts of Asia, people use tofu as a kind of meat.
Douhua is one kind of soft tofu. It is a popular breakfast food in China. Because it is very soft, people can’t eat it with chopsticks, but with a spoon (勺子). People often eat it as a snack (小吃) and often add spring onions and gravy to it. In Malaysia, people usually eat douhua with white or dark sugar water.
