It is interesting to know what people of different nations like to do best. In France, when a woman enters a café or restaurant, she is freely discussed, not only about her appearance but about her past and future as well. She invites looks in the street whether she is beautiful or plain. There is no better way for a woman to get back her self-confidence than a walk in the street of Pairs or Marseilles, and woman really like that.
In Italy, people love talking. They sit about in cafe, exchanging news and discussing politics. They do not hesitate to ask questions about the family, income and private life of anybody who happens to be there.

Some years ago on a hot summer day in south Florida a little boy decided to go for a swim in the lake behind his house. He swam towards the middle of the lake, not realizing that a crocodile was swimming toward him. His mother, who was in the house, was looking out of the window and saw the two. In great fear, she ran toward the water, shouting to her son as loudly as she could. Hearing her voice, the boy became alarmed and swam back. It was too late. Just as he reached her, the crocodile reached him. The mother grabbed her little boy by the arms just as the crocodile snatched his legs. The crocodile was much stronger than the mother, but the mother was much too passionate to let go. A farmer happened to drive by, heard their screams, raced from his truck, took aim and shot the crocodile.
Remarkably, the boy survived, after several weeks in hospital. His legs were extremely scarred (伤疤)by the attack of the animal. And, on his arms, were deep scratches where his mother's fingernails dug into his flesh in her effort to hang on to the son she loved.
The newspaper reporter, who interviewed the boy asked if he would show him his scars. The boy lifted his legs. And then, with obvious pride, he said to the reporter. "But look at my arms. I have great scars on my arms. too. I have them because my Mom wouldn't let go. "

Sports can help you keep fit and get in touch with nature. However, whether you are on the mountains, in the waves, or on the grassland, you should be aware that your sport of choice might have great influence on the environment.
Some sports are resource-hungry. Golf, as you may know, eats up not only large areas of countryside, but also tons of water. Besides, all sorts of chemicals and huge amounts of energy are used to keep its courses(球场) in good condition. This causes major environmental effects. For example, in the dry regions of Portugal and Spain, golf is often held responsible for serious water shortage in some local areas.
There are many environment-friendly sports. Power walking is one of them that you could take up today. You don’t need any special equipment except a good pair of shoes; and you don’t have to worry about resources and your purse. Simple and free, power walking can also keep you fit. If you walk regularly, it will be good for your heart and bones. Experts say that 20 minutes of power walking daily can make you feel less anxious, sleep well and have better weight control.
Whatever sport you take up, you can make it greener by using environment-friendly equipment and buying products made from recycled materials. But the final goal should be “green gyms”. They are better replacements for traditional health clubs and modern sports centers. Members of green gyms play sports outdoors, in the countryside or other open spaces. There is no special requirement for you to start your membership. And best of all, it’s free.

Ms Petoskey, my seventh grade teacher at Queen of Apostles was, and still is, the greatest teacher. She was creative with her teaching styles; every new day she brought a new way of leaning literature, by using a game rap song, and other things.
I must say, the kids in my class sometimes didn’t listen to the teachers carefully, but Ms Petoskey was able to attract their attention. Her literature classroom had bean bags and fun chairs to sit in while we read, and our desks were always set up in special positions—all around the room. It looked messy when you walked in the room, but we liked it! She let us choose who we sat next to, but once we talked too much, she would move us. She allowed us to make her classroom our home.
She was passionate (热情的) about her job. She let us choose the books we wanted to read next, which made me more interested in books. It wasn’t what we had to read, but what we wanted to read. Whenever we would present ideas about literature or poems, her eyes would light up and she would become excited.
She always made sure everyone was having fun in her class and brought cakes to the classroom every Friday for our silent reading time. She was patient when we got out of hand. She was always cheerful, which made me enjoy coming to school. Ms Petoskey is the teacher I still visit and chat with (even after five years). She is the teacher I can thank for making me enjoy reading !
