    When I was first in junior high，I knew no one．Most students talked only to people they knew So they left me out of their conversations(对话)．I would come home crying because 1 was lonely．Mother asked me what the worst time was and I said that it was at lunchtime．

    She said，“You are not the only lonely person．There are others that are alone．Tomorrow I want you to look around the lunchroom to see if you see other people eating by themselves．1 want you to go to one of them and ask if you can join him or her．”

    Well，the next day，I did look around and asked the first person who was already sitting alone．The young girl was very happy．I shared my story with the girl and the next day we met for lunch and found some other people who were alone and also knew no one．This began a very interesting approach(靠近) to life．

    The lessons that I learned from that experience have stayed with me all my life．I have few problems approaching new people at a gathering(聚会)．I learned that I am not alone．I could reach out to others．Most people are just like you and me．We all want to be noticed，to get a little attention，and to have someone be interested in listening to us．

    It’s been a long journey. From DJ to producer to singer, Mark Ronson is now a pop star in his own right.

    On Feb 15, his hit song Uptown Funk won Record of the Year, one of the most important prizes, at the 2016 Grammy Awards.

    While the world has gone crazy for the song, Ronson, 40, went through six difficult months to produce it. In fact, the UK musician made 17 versions (版本) of Uptown Funk.

    In an interview with the Daily Mail, Ronson told the UK newspaper that he worked so hard that his hair started to fall out. At one point, the stress of trying to come up with a suitable guitar part even caused him to faint (晕倒) in a restaurant.

    The difficulties didn’t stop here. Ronson also didn’t have enough confidence in his singing, as he had been a producer for a long time. “I work with great singers,” he told the New York Post, “so I’ve always heard what really good voices sound like.”

    Still, things worked out great in the end.

    His family plays an important part in his success. His stepfather guitarist Mick Jones was one of the first members of the rock band Foreigner and sometimes Jones would share ideas with Ronson.

    “After school, Jones would play me the most recent mix of songs in the studio and ask what I thought, and I would tell him in my little English schoolboy voice, ‘ I remember the bass (贝司) was turned up a little more on the mix from last week’”, Ronson told The Guardian, “ I was kind of meant to live in the studio.”

    All these influences led to his success. Ronson taught himself how to DJ when he was 16. “ I practiced by copying my favorite DJs on the radio,” he told US radio station NPR. “ I would like listen to them and try and copy in my best way what they were doing.”

    With the goal of being a cool DJ, Ronson dropped out of New York University and played in clubs in downtown New York, where popular artists often visited.

    “If you do a good job, there’s the chance they might remember who you are,” he told NPR.

    And doing a good job is how Ronson get into show business.

    “Never underestimate (低估) Ronson,” UK DJ Zane Lowe told Esquire magazine, “ he is fully prepared for opportunities.”

    A Smart Home

    When you’re not at home, many worries may start to crowd your mind. Did I turn the coffee maker off? Did I lock the door? Are the kids doing their homework or watching television? With a smart home, you can quiet all of these worries.

    A smart home is a home with a communication network. This network connects devices(装置), such as lights and TV sets, and allows them to be controlled from far away through electrical wiring, mobile phone communication or WiFi over the internet.

    More and more people may start to consider owning a smart home, because it makes life much more convenient. It can help keep your room at a certain temperature. It can record what happens inside the home and send the video to your phone. When you are on vacation abroad, you can use a smart home controller to switch on or off the electricity when necessary. Some smart homes can receive a visitor, allowing him to come in and offering him a drink. They can even feed the cat and water the plants.

    Besides, smart homes are easy to fix. Most smart home technology and devices are wireless and can be set up with a minimum of tools, using only the guiding information. When a problem appears, you can deal with it yourself without paying a professional.

    However, for home-users, the smart home technology is far from perfect. It can be rather expensive to own the technology and the devices. Also, because the smart home system allow its owner to get home information from anywhere, it leaves the home easy to be attacked by hackers(黑客),who may secretly use or change the information in the system.

    Now, many scientists are excited at the future of smart home technology. Imagine being able to get fashion advice from your mirror, or receive food shopping suggestions from your refrigerator. While there are others who worry that those smart devices will make people lazier and lonelier. Whatever it is, one thing is for sure---smart home technology will change the way we live and work.
