Last Thursday, the flying man won again in Japan. He says he wants to break Johnson’s world record next. “I think I can do it,” said Liu. “I am only 21 years old.”
In the Olympics, Liu Xiang won the 110?metre hurdles. It was the first men’s athletics (田径)gold for China in the Olympics. He always loves sports. He kept running and jumping everyday. He never sat there quietly. In the fourth grade, Liu tried high jump. Later, people said he was not tall enough for high jump. His parents wanted him to stop doing it.
“I told my mother that I wanted to be in the Olympics,” Liu said. Luckily, at age 15, Liu met his coach Sun Haiping. He asked Liu to run the 110?metre hurdles. “I showed that Asian people can run fast too,” said Liu. |
