可知,a good major和a good university之间为“或者...或者...”的关系。故填选择连词or.

2. 考查情态动词。根据语境“一些学生更愿意优先考虑专业,那样的话他们就能够学习他们感兴趣的东西”可知,故填情态动词can.

3. 考查it做形式宾语。根据语境“这也能够使得他们能够在将来从事他们喜欢的工作”可知, make it possible for sb. to do sth.:使得某人做某事成为可能 故填不定代词it.

4. 考查连词。分析语境可知前文讲述优先考虑专业的原因,后文think differently believe that the environment is important to one’s development表明有些人支持优先考虑学校。

故填who.

7. 考查in my opinion结构。

Zoos divide opinion: there are those who think it is cruel to keep animals locked up while others believe zoos are essential for the survival of endangered species.

To argue that zoos imprison animals is to misunderstand what zoos are about. Without zoos many of the creatures we love and admire would no longer exist. Every single day, over one hundred animal species vanish. Scientists predict that as early as 2050 one quarter of the Earth’s species will become extinct.

Some animals are in danger because they are hunted. Alarmingly the population of tigers has already fallen by ninety-five percent. Other species are in danger because of a lack of food. For example, there are fewer than 1300 giant pandas left in the wild.

Zoos have special breeding programmes to help those animals at risk. These breeding programmes are proving extremely successful. As Irene Shapiro from Zoo and Wildlife Support says, “the Puerto Rican Parrot has grown in numbers from just thirteen to about eighty-five and the Golden Lion Tamarin Monkey, which has almost ceased to exist twenty years ago, has been reintroduced back into the wild.”

Unfortunately not everyone understands this important role zoos play. For example, Brian Featherstone from the Anti-Zoo Forum says, “I can’t believe we take animals from the wild and put them in cages for the entertainment of the public! We should view them on film or TV in their natural environment.”

However, this misses the point. A zoo does more than display animals to the public. It ensures their survival. Without zoos you would not be able to see many of these animals on TV or anywhere else!

The Cuban iguana(大蜥蜴) is a species of lizard(蜥蜴) of the iguana family. It is the largest of the West Indian rock iguanas, one of the most endangered groups of lizards. This species with red eyes and a thick tail is one of the largest lizards in the Caribbean.

The Cuban iguana is primarily herbivorous; 95% of its diet consists of the leaves, flowers and fruits from as many as 30 plant species, including the seaside rock bush and various grasses. However, Cuban iguanas occasionally consume animal matter, and individuals have been observed eating the dead flesh of birds, fish and crabs, The researchers wrote that quite a few people on Isla Magueyes could have caused this incident.

The Cuban iguana is distributed throughout the rocky southern coastal areas of mainland Cuba and its surrounding islands with a wild population booming on Isla Magueyes, Puerto Rico. It is also found on the Cayman Islands of Little Cayman and Cayman Brac, where a separate subspecies occurs. Females guard their nest sites and often nest in sites half destroyed by Cuban crocodiles. To avoid the attack from them, the Cuban iguana often makes its home within or near prickly-pear cacti (仙人掌).

In general the species is in decline, more quickly on the mainland than on the outlying islands. One of the reasons for their decline is habitat destruction caused by the over consuming of farm animals, housing development, and the building of tourist resorts on the beaches where the animals prefer to build their nests. Although the wild population is in decline, the numbers of iguanas have been sharply increased as a result of captive-breeding(圈养) and other conservation programs.

1.The underlined word "herbivorous" (Paragraph 2) probably means .

A. dangerous B. gentle

C.flesh-eating D. plant-eating

2.Why does the Cuban iguana build its nest near prickly-pear cacti?

A. To keep itself cool.

B. To avoid crocodiles' attack.

C. To stay away from people.

D.To get the food easily.

3.How many reasons are mentioned for the habitat destruction?

A. Two. B.Five. C. Four. D. Three.

4.What's the author's purpose of writing the text?

A. To give us a brief introduction to the Cuban iguana.

B. To show he is concerned about the Cuban iguana.

C. To explain reasons for the Cuban iguana's decline.

D. To draw people's attention to the endangered Cuban iguana.

Are morning people born or made? In my case it was definitely made. In my early 20s, I hardly went to bed before midnight, and I would always get up late the next morning.

But after a while I couldn’t ignore the high relationship between success and rising early. On those rare occasions where I did get up early, I noticed that my productivity (效率) was always higher. So I set out to become a habitual early riser. But whenever my alarm went off, my first thought was always to stop that noise and go back to sleep. Eventually some sleep research showed that my strategy was wrong.

The most common wrong strategy is this: supposing you’re going to get up earlier, you’d better go to bed earlier. It sounds very reasonable, but will usually fail.

There are two main schools (流派) of thought on sleep patterns. One is that you should go to bed and get up at the same time every day. The second school says you should go to bed when you’re tired and get up when you naturally wake up. However, I have found both are wrong if you care about productivity. If you sleep at fixed hours, you’ll sometimes go to bed when you aren’t sleepy enough. You’re wasting time lying in bed awake.

My solution is to combine both methods. I go to bed when I’m sleepy and get up with an alarm clock at a fixed time. So I always get up at the same time (in my case 5 a.m.), but I go to bed at different times every night.

However, going to bed only when I’m sleepy, and getting up at a fixed time every morning are my ways. If you want to become an early riser, you can try your own.

1.According to the passage, the underlined phrase refers to ________.

A. people who stay up until the next morning

B. people who get up early in the morning

C. people who feel sleepy in the morning

D. people whose productivity is the lowest in the morning

2.Why did the author want to become a habitual early riser?

A. Because he / she wanted to have more sleep time.

B. Because he / she wanted to do morning exercise.

C. Because he / she wanted to test which school is better?

D. Because he / she found that the productivity was higher.

3.The author experienced all the following EXCEPT ________.

A. going to bed after midnight

B. asking scholars for advice on sleeping habits

C. getting up early occasionally

D. pressing off the alarm to go on sleeping

4.What’s the author’s sleep pattern?

A. Going to bed early and getting up early.

B. Going to bed late and getting up late.

C. Going to bed when sleepy and getting up at a fixed early time.

D. Going to bed early and getting up late.

5.The passage is mainly about ________.

A. main schools of thought on sleep patterns

B. how to have a good sleep

C. wrong strategies for getting up early

D. how to become an early riser
