    14．I am writing with reference to the article entitled"Everything's jut perfect，thanks!"which appeared in the June issue of your magazine．Following a discussion of the article in our English class，I have been chosen to express our disagreement with some of the views contained in the article．
    First of all，we find it difficult to believe that such a large number of people are satisfied with the education system and with their working conditions．This is certainly not the case here，where many people have complaints about the poor standards of education．In fact，lack of job satisfaction is known to be among the greatest causes of stress in this country．
    Secondly，it certainly is not true that most people are happy with public transport，either in our cities or in the the country．Furthermore，one of the most commonly heard complaints is that there are insufficient buses and trains to serve on ever-increasing population．It's a well-known fact that our public transport system is seriously under-funded and our roads are heavily crowded．And，as far as city life is concerned，a significant percentage would move if they had the opportunity．
    Finally，we feel it is unrealistic of you to claim that most people have enough money to live on．Were this so，we would have none of the financial problems faced by most people and widespread poverty would not be an issue．
    To conclude，we found your article to be extremely inaccurate in its assessment of living conditions．Since your magazine claims to represent students from all over the world，we look forward to reading more objective reporting in future issues．

    15．Nothing is more tiresome than being stuck in a boring class．Every second takes ages to tick by．A recent survey of American kids revealed that 91percent experience boredom．In fact，adolescence is considered a peak period for the problem．One study showed that roughly one in three teenagers was bored at school．
    Peter Stromberg，professor at the University of Tulsa says，"Our brains adapt really quickly to certain levels of stimulation（刺激）．We get used to the media providing levels of highly emotional stimulation，and when we're not getting them we feel bored．As our society develops various ways of keeping us entertained，we may discover that rather than getting rid of boredom，we're multiplying it．"Luckily，new research is implying a way that we can battle the trend．
    Professor John D．Eastwood of the University of York developed a new theory of boredom，which links it to the brain's attention system-the part of the brain that we use to focus．Anything the attention system in your brain locks onto will be automatically sucked up into your conscious awareness-it might be a bird outside the window，the pleasant smell of lunch，or even someone sleeping in the back of the class．
    The problem is that your attention system doesn't like being told what to do．It wants to focus on stuff that you find fun and interesting．For the parts of school that you enjoy，this isn't a problem．But for those classes that don't interest you，or present too much or too little challenge，the story is very different．In those situations，you're going to have to spend a lot of effort constantly redirecting your attention system to focus on things it would rather ignore．And the effort is going to wear you out．Eastwood describes it as"wanting，but being unable，to binvolved in a satisfying activity．"It's like a block in the system．And it's the awareness of that block combined with a sense that the environment is to blame that leads to feelings of boredom．
    When we're bored we blame the world around us，but Eastwood's theory challenges this assumption：Boredom doesn't exist out there； it exists inside your brain．What that means is-hard as it may be to hear-boring lessons aren't only the fault of your teacher or the subject，they're your fault too．

    12．Sharon Tal，a graduate of Engineering and Design in Israel，began her career in Paris and moved her way up to head designer in London．But the 33-year-old designer felt a strong desire to return to her native Israel．
    Back at home，she began to think about the famous fashion house Maskit，founded in 1953 by Ruth Dayan，a legend in Israel's design world．The brand had everything Tal stood for as a designer．But there was one problem：Maskit had been closed for more than 20 years．
    Maskit was founded by Dayan when she visited artists and craftsmen skilled in decorative arts．They were living in small Israeli towns，and she wanted to help them earn a living wage．
    From 1960 to 1980，the Maskit Fashion House created more than 2，000 jobs for such craftsmen and ran 10stores in Israel and one in New York．But by 1994 the industry had changed，and the company shut down．Dayan moved on to focus her time on social causes．
    Tal contacted Dayan，and the two arranged a meeting．The rest，as they say，is history．The meeting led to a cooperation to bring back the Maskit brand to life two decades after it closed．
    Tal said she wanted to create something that would be hers，but also make a bigger impact．"Our vision is to become a leading international fashion house inspired from Israel，"Tal said．
    Reviving such a fashion brand would take time and careful preparations．Tal and Dayan spent a year getting in touch with former employees and collecting Maskit items．
    Their hard work has paid off．Tal won the Most Promising Designer award from the Israel Fashion Industry Awards．
