Dear Chen Hua,
I received your letter yesterday. I’m glad to write to tell us you something about the study and life of American students at your request.
In America boys and girls start school when they are six. In some states they must stay in school until they are sixteen. Most students are seventeen or eighteen when they graduate from high school. Today more than half of the high school graduates go on to colleges or universities. Almost half of the college students take part-time work while studying to be economically independent of home. They do baby-sitting, mow lawns or deliver newspapers. And younger ones sell newspapers and magazines on the street or wash cars.
One more thing, American students often go out into nature for their lessons.
