Yosemite Park is one of the most beautiful locations in the United States. A national park that covers
over 1,100 miles of land, it stretches across the western slopes (斜坡) of the Sierra Nevada mountains.
So it supports a wide variety of biological diversity (生物多样性).
When exploring Yosemite, it's important to understand that you will see all sorts of wildlife, perhaps
even some of the more exotic if you're lucky. If you're the type of person who loves camping and being outdoors, go on an overnight or several days' backpacking trip, hike up to the falls, try out some rock
climbing, go biking and generally enjoy the amazing beauty of Yosemite.
If you're a person who doesn't really like nature or enjoys it from a distance, Yosemite still offers many great opportunities. Stay in the luxurious Yosemite hotel and walk to the neighboring village to try an ice
skate. Check out the mall museum and go on several guided tours.
Some must-see places in Yosemite include: El Capitan, one of the most famous rock-climbing areas in
the world; Yosemite Falls, easily the highest waterfall in North America at 2,425 ft; Ribbon Falls, the
longest single-drop water fall in the US at 1,612 ft; Mount Lyell, the highest point in the park, and many
other amazing sights.
Thus Yosemite truly has something for everyone. If you have a chance, it's worth a visit, but events like swimming and boating are only available late spring through summer. In winter, there's cross-country
skiing, downhill skiing and snowshoeing, so fun activities are always available to all.

    认真阅读下列短文,根据所读内容在文章后表格中填入恰当的单词.注意:表格中的每个空格只填1个词.
Traditionally, customers may consider more about what they buy the product for. However, the image of product and
the consuming circumstance have become the key points to attract customer awareness and stimulate their buying needs.
Frequently, customers buy goods just because they are cute, lovely and unique. With a less emphasis on functional utilities,
the experience and imaginative space are placed into an increasingly important role. The image of product is emphasized,
as well as the communication between products and consumers."Customer behavior, which appears to be focused and
directed at the object and at pleasure,in fact responds to quite different objectives:displaced expression of desire, and the production of a code of social values through the use of differential signs" (Baudrillard). The reason for image-oriented
customer behavior is probably that customers' lifestyle has been continuously virtualized by paying much attention to
"Virtual Reality".The evidences can be traced from computer games and Hollywood movies,in which customers'
preference for fleeing reality is perfectly matched.
This change requires us to take efforts to enhance product image by integrating style, color, taste, shape and material,
and communicate with customers creatively, imaginatively and innovatively, and enable them to enjoy the distictive
experience image brings." "〔A〕need is not a need for a particular object as much as it is a 'need' for difference"
(Baudrillard). The typical example is Apple Computers IMAC,which has strong visual impact and outstanding dynamics.
By this way, customer relationship can be set up through image, and brand can be treated as living that can transform
people.Other examples commonly used are Disney Fairyland and Las Vegas, where new experience and imagination are
fully demonstrated. In sum, consumption is negotiation,a never-ending conversation held in the languages of advertising,
    packaging,branding,fashion,and entertainment.

Do you love holidays but hate the increase weight that follows? You are not alone.
Holidays are happy days with pleasure and delicious foods. Many people, however, are worried
about the weight that comes along with the delicious foods. With proper planning, though, it is possible

try mints (薄荷) and fruits .They don't have fat content as cream and chocolate.

In a recently published book , I came across some exercises with interesting names such as fishbone
diagrams , lotus flowers and clustering . As I used these exercises in my classes , I noticed that students
were interested . They said more and wrote more . They enjoyed expressing their ideas and sharing them
in groups .They were no longer passively waiting for the bell, but actively took part in the lesson . I find
that creativity can act as a way to increase participation and improve fluency (流利程度).
Creativity has become a popular word in recent years . Scholars in the arts ,psychology (心理学),
business , education , and science are all working to get a deeper understanding of it . Robert J.
Sternberg is a creativity specialist and Yale professor of psychology. He defines creativity as "the ability
to produce work that is both new (original) and appropriate (applicable to the situation)". This definition
is useful, as we want our students to use language in a new way, and to use it correctly and properly.
Most scholars say there are two types of creativity: big "C" creativity and small "c" creativity. Big "C"
creativity refers to genius level thinking that results in artistic masterpieces and scientific breakthroughs.
Small "c" creativity refers to everyday level thinking that can be used in any situation. Our emphasis is on
the latter. While it goes without saying that any of our students could go on to be the next Picasso or
Edison, our aim is to help students produce more ideas and use language in new ways .
1.The underlined words "waiting for the bell" in the first paragraph probably mean        .
    A. longing for a phone call
    B. hoping to have a bell
    C. expecting the end of the class

    2. It can be inferred from the passage that the author thought the exercises in the book were  ____ .

    A. popular
    B. useful
    C. scientific
    D.creative

    A. creative in the sense of big "C" creativity
    B. creative in the sense of small "c" creativity
    C. not creative in the sense of big "c" creativity

Rather than talk about how he feels, often a man would express his love by buying the woman
cosmetics (化妆品), or bringing home a flower, or giving up the control of the remote (遥控器).
And when men do talk, they'd prefer to talk about actions rather than emotions. For example, a lot of men would choose to express their long-range faith in a relationship by talking about next summer's
vacation plans, not by starting a conversation about undying love.
Men just prefer to say their plans with plane tickets, rather than poetry. It's one of the reasons why men are more comfortable talking at work (the practical world) than they are at home (the castle that emotion
built). But you can bring out his great communicator by making him feel more like he's operating in the
work mode, even when the topic at hand is your love life.
When men talk less and women want more, the conflict can escalate. Like when a policeman is
questioning an unwilling witness, more silence equals more questions. A full 65 percent of men we
surveyed recently told us that they don't want their partners to ask them more questions about themselves.
It's clear that some men are just tired of feeling like they're on the witness stand. They're not necessarily hiding anything; many men simply prefer not to have to tell confusing feelings that they may not even
    understand themselves.
An age-old method can make things better: back off a little, give him room to operate in a conversation, and he's more likely to open up.

    a. buying her make-up     b. offering her flowers

    A. They may give men a surprise by buying plane tickets.

No one wants to look stupid or do the wrong thing at a new job. It is important to make the right
impression from the very first day. You will face new people. You will be in a new place.
It may be difficult to know what to do. Here are five tips to help you make it through the first days at
    a new job:
         1. First impressions can last forever. Make sure you make a good one. Before your first day, find out
if your new job has a dress code (rules about what you can wear to work). If so, be sure to follow it.
No matter what, always be neat and clean.
         2. Get to work on time. Give yourself an extra15 minutes to make sure you arrive on time.

co-workers. These co-workers will be important to you. They are the ones who will answer your
questions when the boss is not around.
         4. Ask plenty of questions. Make sure that your supervisor has told you what is expected of you. If
he or she has not told you your duties, ask for a list. Set daily and weekly goals for yourself.
         5. Never be the first one to leave. Observe(观察) what your co-workers do around quitting time

                                                            The Winner's Guide to Success
How do successful people think? What helps them to make success? To find out the
answers, an American scholar recently visited some of the most successful people in
    America.   1
         Be responsible for yourself
Sometimes you may want to blame others for your failure to get ahead.    2     You're
saying, "You have more control over my life than I do."
         Live life "on purpose"
Almost all successful people live life "on purpose"- they are doing what they believe they
should and want to do. When you live your life on purpose, you'll try your best to do your
job or study as well as you can. You love what you do and you can find pleasure in what
    you do.
         Write a plan
It is very difficult trying to get what you want without a good plan.     3     A good plan
is like a map to you. Without this "map", you may waste your time, money and also your
energy; while with the "map" you'll enjoy the "trip" and get what you want in the shortest
    possible time.
Be willing to pay the price
Nothing great is easy to get. So you must be ready to work hard - even harder than you
have ever done. If you are not willing to pay the price, you won't get anything valuable.
         Never give up
4   When you are doing something, you must tell yourself again and again: Giving up is
worse than failure because failure can be the mother of success, but giving up means the death
    of hope.

Once an American writer was writing a novel. He could not have a good ending for his
book until one night when he had a very good idea. He was so excited that he made a phone
call to one of his best friends. "I've got a perfect idea," he said, "I'll put it down later and show
it to you." But he never did, because he died that night. His book was left without a perfect
ending. So remember, do what you can right away. Never delay at all.
    A. It is just like trying to drive through strange roads to a city far away.
    B. It seems to us that everyone knows this. But it is easier said than done.
    C. Some people achieve success much later in life because they fail to realize earlier the importance
         of hard work.
    D. In fact, when you say someone or something outside of yourself is stopping you from making
success, you're giving away your own power.
