6.Some people may think I'm crazy when I say"work is rest".But that's the way it is-we need to rest.Without rest,we will die.At a minimum,we won't have the energy to work.
Nobody forces us to be so stupid about this.We just don't know how to rest properly.We rest in ways that are not restful,even stressful.Some of our ways of rest interfere with our working energy.Instead of sleep,we go to the movies and clubs,drink or have a smoke with friends.This is because we misunderstand the meaning of"rest".
We should remember that rest means not working,both physically and mentally.Only then is it real rest.When tired,rest.It's simple.Actually,dogs and cats are smarter about this than people.People are stupid enough to rest in ways that destroy their capacity to work.
Rest and work always go together.There must be a balance:work during the day and rest at night.When the sun comes up,one has plenty of strength to work well and enjoy it.In other words,rest is a kind of investment,so that one has the strength and energy to continue working.So we need rest to work,recognizing that we can't have one without the other.Rest is what recharges our batteries.We need enough time to charge up adequately to the tasks we undertake.Thus,we need to rest correctly; otherwise,illness will occur and also can affect the efficiency of our work.
Rest can't be skimped.Without enough rest,good work is impossible.This is why we say that rest is another kind of work.

4.Which of the following is the best rest according to this passage?A
A.Sleeping at home.

A.dogs and cats are smarter than we human beings
B.rest can make us work more efficiently
C.it's not proper to sleep in the daytime for people.
D.rest is more important than work for people
6.The underlined word"skimped"in the last paragraph probably means"C".
A.added       B.connected        C.saved      D.developed
7.What is the best title for the text?D
A.How to Form the Habit of Sleeping
B.Why People Need to Rest
C.Sufficient Rest Leads to Success
D.Rest is Another Kind of Work.

解答 4.A. Instead of sleep,we go to the movies and clubs,drink or have a smoke with friends.This is because we misunderstand the meaning of"rest,我们不睡觉而是去看电影和去俱乐部,与朋友喝酒或者抽烟是因为我们误解了"休息的意思,可知作者认为睡眠才是真正的休息,故选A.
5.B. 由倒数第二段otherwise,illness will occur and also can affect the efficiency of our work,缺乏休息会导致生病,影响我们的工作效率,可推知好的休息会使我们更有效率,故选B.
6.C. Without enough rest,good work is impossible,可知作者是在讲休息的必要性,因此可推知休息是不能节省的,故选C.

4.
A.devote      B.principles C.definedD.foundations  E.labeledF.endureG.persistence      H.absorb
I.possess      J.confused      K.appropriate
A certain survey was conducted to ask students to name the school subject that was (41)E as the most difficult.Not surprisingly,mathematics came out on top of the difficulty chart.So what is it about math that makes it difficult?
In dictionaries the word"difficult"is (42)C as"not easily or readily done; requiring much labor or planning to be performed successfully."This definition gets to the point of the problem when it comes to math.What makes math difficult is that it takes patience and (43)G.For many students,math is not something that comes automatically.It takes effort.It is a subject that sometimes requires students to (44)A lots and lots of time and energy.
This means,for many,the problem has little to do with brain power; it is mostly a matter of staying power.And since students don't make their own timelines,they can run out of the time as the teacher moves on the next topic.
Scientists believe that people (45)I different math understanding sills.Logical and left-brain thinkers tend to understand things in a different way in which intuitive and right-brainers do.They (46)H a lot of information at one time and allow time to let it"sink in".So left-brain students may grasp concepts quickly while right-brain students don't.To those right brain student,time loss can make them feel (47)J and behind.Unfortunately in busy classrooms with too many students,students are not always blessed with enough time.We have to move on,ready or not.
Math know-how is also snowballing,which means it works much like a pile of building blocks.You have to gain enough blocks in one area before you can effectively go on to"build upon"another area.Our first mathematical building blocks are established in primary school,when we learn rules and (48)B for addition and multiplication,and those first concepts become our (49)D.These mathematical concepts or knowledge has to sink in and become firm before students can move on to challenge the next stage of new concepts.However,teachers don't have time to ensure that every single student understands every single concept.So some students move to the next level with really shaky knowledge system.As a result,as they climb the ladder,they may meet with more and more difficulties and might (50)F painful failures at some point.
