I will never forget the year I was about twelve years old. My mother told us that we would not be        Christmas gifts because there was not enough money. I felt sad and thought,“What would I say when the other kids asked what I'd        ?” Just when I started to        that there would not be a Christmas that year, three women        at our house with gifts for all of us. For me they brought a doll. I felt such a sense of        that I would no longer have to be embarrassed when I returned to school. I wasn't        .Somebody had thought        of me to bring me a gift. Years later, when I stood in the kitchen of my new house, thinking how I wanted to make my        . Christmas there special and memorable, I       _ remembered the woman’s visit. I decided that I wanted to create that same feeling of        for as many children as I could possibly.
So I        a plan and gathered forty people from my company to help. We gathered about 125 orphans (孤儿)at the Christmas party. For every child,we wrapped colorful packages filled with toys, clothes, and school supplies,       with a child's name. We wanted all of them to know they were        .Before I called out their names and handed them their gifts,I        them that they couldn't open their presents        every child had come forward. Finally the        they had been waiting for came as I called out,“One,two, three. Open your presents!” As the children opened their packages, their faces beamed and their bright smiles       up the room. The        in the room was obvious, and   wasn't just about toys. It was a feeling —the feeling I knew         that Christmas so long ago when the women came to visit. I wasn't forgotten. Somebody thought of me. I matter.

Two 12yearold boys, Christian and Jack, rowed out a boat to search for a football.Once they'd rowed beyond the calm waters, a beach umbrella tied to the boat caught the wind and pulled the boat into open water. The pair panicked and tried to row back to shore. But they were no match for it and the boat was out of control.

Dear Dad,
Today I was at the shopping mall and I spent a lot of time reading the Father's Day cards. They all had a special message that in some way or another reflected how I feel about you. Yet as I selected and read, it occurred to me that not a single card said what I really want to say to you.
You'll soon be 84 years old, Dad, and you and I will have had 55 Father's Days together. I haven't always been with you on Father's Day but I've always been with you in my heart.
You know, Dad, there was a time when we were separated by the generation gap. You stood on one side of the Great Divide and I on the other.
The Father-Daughter Duel shifted into high gear ( 档位) when you taught me to drive the old Dodge and I decided I would drive the '54 Chevy whether you liked it or not. The police officer who sent me home, after you reported the Chevy stolen, didn't have much tolerance for a stubborn 16 year old, while you were so tolerant about it, Dad, and I think that was probably what made it the worst night of my life.
Our relationship greatly improved when I married a man you liked, and things really turned around when we began making babies right and left. Somewhere along the line, the generation gap disappeared. I suppose I saw us and our relationship as aging together, rather like a fine wine.
But the strangest thing happened last week. I was at a stop sign and I watched as you turned the corner in your car. It didn't immediately occur to me that it was you because the man driving looked so elderly and fragile behind the wheel of that huge car. It was rather like a slap in the face delivered from out of nowhere. Perhaps I saw your age for the first time that day.
I guess what I'm trying to say, Dad, is what every son and daughter wants to say to their Dad today. Honoring a father on Father's Day is about respect and sharing and acceptance and tolerance and giving and taking. It's about loving someone more than words can say, and it's wishing that never had to end.
I love you, Dad.
Love,
Jenny

My daughter and I collected the empty cans and bottles in our home .this morning, We had 6 full garbage bags later so I knew we would be spending a bit more of time at the recycling center. When we got there , a man and his kids were also doing the morning recycling and were using two of the four machines to recycle their plastic and cans. Luckily ,we were able to use the 2 remaining machines.
Of course, there were others that came, but when they saw the two families with garbage bags full of recycled things, they quickly left. However, one woman came in with just 5 cans and looked as if she was in a hurry. So I stopped what I was doing and let her in to recycle her cans. Of course, she was grateful, and it felt good to let her go ahead of me. But that was not the whole story.
My daughter and I continued to work through the bags, but the plastic recycling machine stopped working because it was full. My daughter was left with nothing to, do. The other family was still using the other two plastic recycling machines, but it. seemed that they were almost done .I just told my daughter we would have to wait until they were done. But the man of the other family came through with another act of kindness. He offered to let us go ahead of him. I was really surprised, because we had more than 5 bottles, but he didn’t seem to mind. I happily accepted it.
It was great to give and then to get an act of kindness in turn. It was small, I didn't expect it, but it surely brightened up my day.
