School children are now constantly asked by their parents and teachers to study harder and harder. And the competition1 the students themselves is growing in most schools in China. In my opinion, the fierce(激烈的)2 in school3more harm than good.
Visiting a German city, I was4 to be present at a parent-teacher meeting at a school.5were told at the meeting that their children's school grades were held to be a personal information6 by the law, and that the school would not disclose(透露)the students' marks,7 would the school report them to the parents. It is their view that a8 school should encourage children to learn9 without pressure. A student's intelligence(智力)and ability will be10 later by competition in society.
In China, ranking students according to their examination has been11 as a means of encouraging students to study harder.
A friend told me about a parent-teacher meeting she12 with her daughter who was in the second grade.
At the meeting, a teacher read aloud13 students in the class and their marks for different14. Good students came at the top of the list and poor15 at the bottom. And in front of everybody at the meeting, the teacher gave warning16 those poor students and their parents.
From this comparison, I17 that teachers and school leaders in China ought to learn18 more about children's psychology(心理学)and show their students more19 . Such competition among students is unhealthy and should not be20 .

The ability to be “connected”and “ on”has many 15, as well as disadvantages. Travelers have ended up 16on mountains, and mobile phones have saved countless lives. I was shopping in the supermarket when I heard the young voice.
"Mom, come here! There's this lady here my 1!"
The mother rushed to her son; then she turned to me to 2.
I smiled and told her: "It's okay." Then I talked to the boy, "Hi, I'm Darryl Kramer. How are you?"
He 3 me from head to toe, and asked: "Are you a little 4?
"Yes, I have a son," I answered.
"Why are you so little?" he asked.
"It's the way I was 5," I said. "Some people are little. Some are tall. I'm just not going to grow any bigger." After I answered his other questions, I shook the boy's hand, and left.
My life as a little person is filled with 6 like that. I enjoy talking to children and explaining why I look different from their parents.
It takes only one glance to see my 7. I stand 114 cm tall. I was born a dwarf(侏儒). 8 this, I did all the things other kids did when I was growing up.
I didn't 9 how short I was until I started school. Some kids picked on me, calling me names(辱骂我). Then I knew. I began to 10 the first day of school each year. New students would always stare at me as I 11 to climb the school bus stairs.
But I learned to smile and 12 the fact that I was going to be 13 my whole life. I decided to make my uniqueness an advantage rather than a disadvantage. What I lacked in height, I 14 in personality.
I'm 47 now, and the stares have not 15 as I've grown older. People are 16 when they see me driving. I try to keep a good attitude. When people are 17, I remind myself: "Look what else I have -a great family, nice friends."
It's the children's questions that make my life 18. I enjoy answering their questions. My 19 is that, I will encourage them to accept their peers(同龄人), whatever size and shape they come in, and treat them with 20.

Passing Your Love On
Waiting for the airplane to take off, I was happy to get a seat by myself. Just then, an air hostess approached me and asked, “Would you mind 1your seat? A couple would like to sit together.” The only 2seat was next to a girl with her arms in casts(石膏绷带), a black-and-blue face, and a sad 3. “No way am I going to sit there,” I thought immediately. But a soft voice spoke, “She needs help.” Finally, I 4to move to that seat.
The girl was named Kathy. She had been in a car accident and 5was on her way for 6.
When the snack and juice arrived, it did not take me long to 7that Kathy would not be able to 8herself. I considered 9to feed her but hesitated, as it seemed too 10to offer a service to a 11. But then I realized that Kathy’s need was more 12than my discomfort. I offered to help her eat, and 13she was uncomfortable to accept, she 14as I expected. We became closer and closer in a short period of time. By the end of the five-hour trip, my heart had 15, and the time was really 16spent than if I had just sat by myself.
I was very glad I had reached 17my comfort zone to sit next to Kathy and feed her. Love 18flows beyond human borders and removes the fears that keep us 19. When we stretch to serve another, we grow to live 20a larger and more rewarding world.
