Going green seems to be a fad(时尚)for a lot of people these days.Whether that is good or bad,we can’t really say,but for the two of us,going green is not a fad but a lifestyle.
On April 22,2011,we decided to go green every single day for an entire year. This meant doing 365 different green things, and it also meant challenging ourselves to go green beyond the easy things.Rather than recycle and reduce our energy,we had to think of 365 different green things to do and this was no easy task.
With the idea of going green every single day for a year,Our Green Year started. My wife and I decided to educate people about how they could go green in their lives and hoped we could show people all the green things that could be done to help the environment. We wanted to push the message that every little bit helps.
Over the course of Our Green Year,we completely changed our lifestyles. We now shop at organic(有机的)stores. We consume less meat, choosing green food.We have greatly reduced our buying we don’t need.We have given away half of what we owned through websites. Our home is kept clean by vinegar and lemon juice, with no chemical cleaners. We make our own butter, enjoying the smell of homemade fresh bread. In our home office anyone caught doing something ungreen might be punished.
Our minds have been changed by Our Green Year.We are grateful for the chance to have been able to go green and educate others. We believe that we do have the power to change things and help our planet.
小题1:What might be the best title for the passage?
A.Going Green

D.Celebrating Our Green Year
小题2:It was difficult for the couple to live a green life for the whole year because________.
A.they were expected to follow the green fad
B.they didn’t know how to educate other people
C.they were unwilling to reduce their energy
D.they needed to perform unusual green tasks
小题3:What did the couple do over the course of Our Green Year?
A.They tried to get out of their ungreen habits.
B.They ignored others’ ungreen behavior.
C.They chose better chemical cleaners.
D.They sold their homemade food.
小题4:What can we infer from the last paragraph?
A.The government will give support to the green project.
B.The couple may continue their project in the future.
C.Some people disagree with the couple’s green ideas.
D.Our Green Year is becoming a national campaign.

小题1:A
小题2:D
小题3:A
B项意为“他们无视他人不环保的行为”,与倒数第二段最后一句矛盾;C项意为“他们选择更好的化学清洁剂”,与倒数第二段的“Our home is kept clean by vinegar and lemon juice, with no chemical cleaners.”

A  Leap to Honor
Leaping on a narrow balance beam(平衡木) is not easy. But Lola Walter, a 13-year-old gymnast, is an expert at it.
To perfect her skills, Lola         for four hours a day, five days a week. At the state championships in March, she finished seventh out of 16 girls.
That’s especially impressive,       she is legally blind, born with a rare condition that causes her eyes to shift constantly. She often sees double and can’t       how far away things are.
When she was little, her mom       that even though she couldn’t see      , she was fearless. So her mom signed her up for gymnastics when she was three. She loved the       right away and gymnastics became her favorite.
Though learning gymnastics has been more      for her than for some of her tournaments, she has never quit. She doesn’t let her       stop her from doing anything that she wants to.
She likes the determination it takes to do the sport. Her biggest      is the balance beam. Because she has double vision, she often sees two beams. She must use her sense of touch to help her during her routine. Sometimes she even closes her eyes. “You have to       your mind that it’ll take you where you want to go.” says Lola.
To be a top-level gymnast, one must be brave. The beam is probably the most       for anyone because it’s four inches wide. At the state competition, Lola didn’t fall       the beam. In fact, she got an 8.1 out of 10---- her highest score yet.
Lola doesn’t want to be       differently from the other girls on her team. At the competitions, the judges don’t know about her vision      . She doesn’t tell them, because she doesn’t think they need to know. Her mom is amazed by her       attitude.
Lola never thinks about      . She is presently at Level 7 while the highest is Level 10 in gymnastics. Her       is to reach Level 9. She says she wants to be a gymnastics coach to pass down what she’s learned to other kids       she grew up.
Lola is       of all her hard work and success. She says it’s helped her overcome problems in her life outside gymnastics, too. Her       for others is “just believe yourself”.

The breaking news of Mo Yan's Nobel Prize in Literature on Thursday evening soon aroused public curiosity of the 57yearold Chinese writer: Why was it him that was favored by the Swedish Academy?
Born in 1955 into a rural family,Mo dropped out of school and became a farmer when he was a teenager. He joined the military and devoted himself to writing after the Cultural Revolution (1966-1976).
Less than half an hour after the announcement,Mo's works turned to soldout status at China's major online book sellers. One lucky buyer wrote in an online comment: “Rushed to purchase, but to my shame,I have not read any of his novels.”
Although Mo was entitled one of the top domestic literature awards before the Nobel Prize,he is not the most popular novelist in China,in either the book market or in reputation.
Mo's novel “Big Breasts & Wide Hips,” translated by Howard Goldblatt, tells a story of a mother who struggled and suffered hardship and intertwined fates with Chinese people in the 20th century. His more recent work “Frog” more directly criticized China's onechild family policy, which helped control the country's population explosion but also brought tragedies to rural residents in the past 60 years.
“I think the reason why I could win the prize is because my works present lives with unique Chinese characteristics, and they also tell stories from a viewpoint of common human beings, which is above differences of nations and races,” Mo said on Thursday evening to Chinese journalists.Mo also said many folk arts originated from his hometown, such as clay sculpture, paper cuts, traditional new year paintings, have inspired and influenced his novels.
With more Chinese writers like Mo,the world could learn a more real China.Perhaps, this is another reason for the Swedish Academy's choice.
