Dong Lina was born in a farmer’s family in Dalian， Liaoning Province. Dong went blind when she was young. Like many blind children， she finished her education early and began learning tuina. Though the money she got was enough for daily use， she wasn’t pleased. She was always looking for chances to continue her education at work.
One day， she heard that there was a training programme for blind youth radio hosts in Beijing. Dong， who has had a good voice since childhood， realised that this might be an important chance for her. So she gave herself the courage to make a change. The first time she attended the broadcast host class， Dong Lina was deeply moved， because she realised how moving the sound was.
Since then， it has been a new page in her life. At school， she worked harder than others to change her life. In 2010， Dong took part in a national competition， in which people were moved by her ability and encouraged her to study at the Communication University of China.
On 28th June， Dong Lina， the first blind master of broadcasting in China， gave a speech at the graduation ceremony of 2023 held by the Communication University of China. She said， “Graduation is the end and the beginning. May we have dreams and keep love...” Her speech lit up all the teachers and students.
