    7．Paris may be the city of love and one of the most romantic places in the world．These days I've been having a little romance with the city itself．I spent the days wandering among some of the main attractions，stopping for office and shopping in stores．It turns out that I love Paris．
         My hotel was right by the Eiffel Tower．I slept with my curtains open so I could wake up to a pinky sky and the Eiffel Tower．After breakfast I took a short walk up to the Eiffel Tower．I wandered around taking photos．But I decided not to go up the tower because the waiting line was too long．
         Then I headed to the Palais de Tokyo for a quick look around on my way to the Musee Galliera．It is also known as the Musee de la Mode，or the fashion museum．The display during my visit was French costumes．
         You might think a dress is just a dress，but when you think about the purpose of the designers，it's really interesting．Those clothes created a fashion revolution after the years of hardships caused by the Second World War．The clothes weren't just about looking good after years of wearing whatever was just practical，affordable or available during the war．Times were changing and the French wanted to show this celebration in their clothes．Within the museum were rooms filled with dresses from some of France's most famous designers．
          Then I had some of the most delicious macaroons I've ever tasted in a café to regain my strength before I set out for Galerie Vivienne，a shopping mall opened in 1823．

    2．Learning About Different Cultures
    Most of us live in a multicultural surroundings these days．Culture can bring us together，but it can also be a cause of division．How does our own culture affect the way we view others？What steps can we take to minimize problems？
    Once my friend，who is of Greek origin，went to Sweden on business．He was sent by the head office in the US to introduce a new computer program to their branch office in Sweden．This newly created software would cut production cost in half and speed up the time from planning to production by 30percent，as well as make the finished product look better．After presenting this program to the managers and directors，he waited for their feedback．At first it was quiet．Then，the general manager said，"Hmm，this looks good．"in a flat voice．"Hmm，I agree，"said another．My friend was in shock．Later on，when he told this to me，he said，"My mother used expressions such as‘Fabulous!'and‘Marvelous!'．These people were presented with a multibillion-dollar program，and all they could say was"Hmm．Good．I don't understand it!"
    What was the problem？Culture．What is an acceptable way of expressing excitement and joy in one country is not the same in another．The Swedes were thrilled，and they thought it was a fantastic computer program．They just had a different way of showing it．
    Another example：I remember my mother always telling me to look at her when she was talking to me，especially if it was something important．It was a way of showing that I was paying attention in a respectful way．Now，my friend from Nigeria told me that she never allows her children to look at her when she is talking．"I want them to respect me，"she says．Who is right？Both．That's the beauty of culture．There is no such thing as right or wrong，good or bad culture．
    Of course，one has to take into consideration people living nearby．It is true that a person has to adjust to the country where he chooses to live．On the other hand，when people move into our country，we can make an effort to get to know their culture．Ask them about their country； ask them why they do certain things or wear different clothes．It can be quite interesting，actually．This doesn't mean we have to like it，or live our lives in their way．But knowledge can definitely lead to fewer disagreements and more understanding between people．
    When culture is understood and used in an appropriate way，it can give a person a feeling of belonging and security．You know what to do in different situations．For example：at the time of birth and death．Let's give place to culture．Try to know and understand other people's culture，and also try to analyze our own．Let's choose our own way of life．Above all else---let's live in peace with all men!
