3. Ask students to check the ways they usually study for an English test. While they are doing this, write the list on the board. Then read the list to the class and ask students to raise their hands to show which things they checked. Write the number of hands you see after each item on the board.
2. Read the lists of ways of studying to the class. Point to actual objects in the classroom( a flashcard, a cassette, a textbook) or to items in the illustration to show the meaning of each item on the list. Explain something about the structures “verb + by with gerund ”.
