First, steaming dumplings arrived, followed by crispy spring rolls, sweet fish, and greens. We raised our glasses of hot tea in a toast, "Happy New Year!" The children laughed as they tried each dish. After we finished the main courses, we drank tea and shared stories of past festivals. The warm laughter and bright lights made us feel young again.
Back at home, we wrote Spring Festival couplets (对联) on red paper. My wife wrote "Family Joy, Year After Year," and I wrote "Health and Peace Fill Our Home." We carefully stuck the couplets on either side of the front door.
