So, how do people celebrate this festival?
It might surprise you that they mainly throw pancakes! Nü Wa is a goddess famous for repairing the sky. In the past, people thought the sky was broken when it rained. Nü Wa appeared to solve the problem. Later, people had a similar fear when the rain beat heavily against their houses. They thought throwing the pancakes onto the roofs (屋顶) could stop the rain from breaking the houses. And they are very strict about pancakes. The rounder and thinner, the better.
