Step 9 Disappearing drill

Get the students listen to the tape and repeat. After that have them read the dialogue again but with some words missing. Do this dill for more times till there is no words on the blackboard at all.

Here are the sentences to be practiced.

Lingling: Who’s missing?

Betty: Tony and Daming. Wha’t happened to them?

Lingling: They were walking more slowly than us.

Mr. Jackson: I’ll go back and look for them.

Tony: Help!

Lingling: Where have you been?

Tony: It’s Daming. He has had an accident. He was running along the wall when he tripped and fell over the edge. He’s cut his head; his shoulder hurts and I think he’s broken his leg.

Lingling: Will he live?

Mr. Jackson: Of course he will! He’s got a wound in his leg and he may get a fever but it’s nothing serious.

Step 10 Summarizing

Get students to read the dialogue again and help them summarize ways of talking about accident.

S: Help!

S: How do you feel?

S: When did that happen?

S: Can you move your foot? ...

T: Good. Let’s have a summary. When someone has an accident, we can use these sentences.
