Step 1 Giving a very general revision
Just give a very general revision and get the students to talk about the special subjects in British and American schools. Encourage the students to talk about these questions:
(1)What subjects do you learn?
(2)Which is your favourite subject?
(3)What can we learn in the subject?
(4)How do you like the subject? Why?
Step 2 Learning the subjects
Get the students to name the subjects that they have at school and write the names on the blackboard. Help students expand their active vocabulary about school subjects.
Languages: Chinese, French, Russian, English, and Japanese
Geography, Science, art Home Economics , Computer studies
PE---( PE is the short form for Physical Education)
Art and Design, Biology, Chemistry, Music Physics
Get the students to read the words on the blackboard loudly.
Step 3 Finishing Part A on Page 27
Get the students to finish Part A on Page 23. Match pictures with correct subjects.Talk about each sbuject:
Art --- You can draw or paint pictures.
Languages---We can learn to speak different languages.
History--- We learn about the past.
Computer studies---We can learn to use the computer.
PE--- We do a lot of physical exercise.
Home economics---We can learn to cook and sew.
Science---We can learn about the natural world through experiments.
STEP 4 Which subjects do you like best?
Ask the students which subjects are their favorites. And encourage them to speak out their reasons.
(1) Do you like all of the subjects?
(2) What is your favorite subject? Why?
STEP 5 Finding the opposites of the adjectives
Pointing at the adjectives written on the blackboard. Encourage the students to find the opposites of the adjectives. Write them in pairs. Get the students to read the adjectives on the blackboard and then encourage them to use these words to talk about the subjects.
Step6 Homework
Write about your favorite subject and speak out your reasons.
