Laughter really may be the best medicine. It provides a great workout to make your stomach tight and your heart strong, and regular laughing may make your immune system better. If you want to live a happy, healthy and joy-filled life, you need to make laughter part of your life.
How can we learn to laugh? Well, the first step is learning to find humorous things in life. For instance, you can watch funny movies and TV programs. When you want to read a newspaper, start with the funnies and the human interest stories before you get too deep into the depressing stuff. Instead of socializing with people who bring you down, hang out with your friends that are always making you laugh. More importantly, train yourself to smile as you’re working, walking, and even while you’re reading a book because smiling more will trick your body into helping put you in a good mood.
The second step is learning to relax. To achieve this, you should learn to laugh at yourself. If you can turn awkward moments, mistakes and shortcomings into opportunities for a good laugh at your own expense, those things will have less control over you. Also remember that everyone’s laugh is unique, so as long as yours is polite, you don’t need to worry about how ugly your laughter sounds. In addition, though you’re probably a busy person, you should remember to take time out for yourself and spend time just being yourself because this can keep you calm and ready to laugh. Thus, make sure you do something you enjoy each day, such as playing a record you love and having your favorite drink, so you can keep control of your mood.
Last but not least, you need to practice laughing as often as possible. You can try laughing a few times as heartedly as possible though you don’t find something funny to laugh at when you’re alone at your house. What’s more, regular laughing may tighten your stomach muscles and release healthy chemicals in your brain that lift your mood. When you laugh, put your hand on your diaphragm (横膈膜) and feel it. When you practice laughter in the future, make sure you can feel it deep in your body.
Practice laughing on your way to work, or after you get home and want to relax a bit. At work, plan regular laugh breaks. Better than a cigarette, take fifteen minutes to think of some funny things and give a chuckle (轻声笑) to keep yourself productive and relaxed.

American LaMar Baylor spends most of his time in New York City, and he works as a performer in the Broadway musical — The Lion King.
But since 2011, he has also spent weeks in Kigali, the capital of Rwanda. There, he teaches dance to boys who live on the street. His teaching is part of an effort by the Rebecca Davis Dance Company. The project helps young people learn more about dance and learn how to behave in a classroom environment.
Rebecca Davis is the founder and director of the dance company. She says she got the idea for the project after she visited Rwanda in 2008. She remembers meeting many street children who were dancing, and she thinks that dance could be used to get them off the street and into a safer place. Rebecca Davis believes that learning to dance is a step towards education.
“When you start to play music in Rwanda, these kids come out of nowhere and they enter the dance center. And it’s because of dance that they have a way of changing their survival skills they have learned on the street and their strength into something that’s actually artistic and aesthetic (美感的),” said Rebecca.
She says children can take classes in information and technology after they have learned to attend classes and follow directions. Boys who have done best in the classes win scholarships (奖学金), and are sent to the Sunrise Boarding School. About 30 boys have won this kind of financial aid.
As for LaMar Baylor, he knows from his own experience how dance can lead to a better life. He said that it took a long time for him to find out what he wanted to do. He now thinks dancing saved his life.

Instead of leaving behind a big inheritance (遗产), people are now choosing to create travel trusts (信托财产). Whether the parents want their children to connect with their heritage, culture or religion, people are increasingly deciding that travel should be a part of their legacy (遗赠). Ten travel-related trusts have been set up in the past 15 years.
Some people, who gave away money for travel, do so to make sure their children stay in touch despite distances. They might also require the receivers to study or take courses in a particular country. Other trusts encourage travel with a charity aim. For example, the inheritance would need to be used for volunteer work in Africa.
Now, let’s look at Mrs. Liebman’s case. Her parents realized that with two daughters living in Israel and one son in the US, the cost of plane tickets might prevent their children from visiting one another. At a family dinner in 2000, her father announced that once a year, he would pay up to $800 per passenger, if one family visited the other. Four years later, he died and so far the money has been used by his children for family celebrations.
The amount has been raised over the years to keep up with the rising cost of air travel. Most recently, Mrs. Liebman, her husband, and their three children flew from the East Coast to Israel for a wedding, and received a check to cover their flights.
Those with extra means are becoming increasingly wise in their estate planning (产业规划). They are thinking about how to influence the behavior of their children in a better way. For Mrs. Liebman, the money from her father has had a very positive effect. In the past dozen years, the family has expanded through weddings and babies, and shared experiences at the family get-togethers. “There has been a new level of connection made. It was really money well spent,” she said.
