M: Well, that’s what you’re supposed to do, isn’t it?

W: Yes. But there’re limits, you know. For instance, he wouldn’t let me take a coffee break.

He had me sit at my desk the whole time.

M: What about lunch?

W: He only let me take half an our off.

M: Did he get you to do overtime?

W: No. We all left the office at five.

M: Well, that’s not too bad. What do the other people at the office think of him?

W: They say he’s very strict with new employees. But if you work hard and don’t fool around, he’s pretty easy to get along with.

M: Really? In that case you need not worry too much. Things will surely turn better for you.

W: I hope so.

M: Ok, I think I must go now. Goodbye and good luck.

W: Thank you for calling.

Text 10

We were about to gather up things and return to our car when a man appeared. He looked very annoyed and asked us angrily if we realized that these grounds were private property. He pointed to a notice which said that camping was not allowed. Poor Father explained that he had not seen the notice and did not know that camping was not allowed. Though Father apologized, the man did not seem satisfied and asked him for his name and address. All the way home, we were so upset that hardly anyone spoke a word.

For the rest of the week, we wondered what would happen. The following Sunday, we stayed at home even though it was a fine day. About noon, a large and very expensive car stopped outside our house. We were astonished when we saw several people preparing to have a picnic in our small garden. Father got angry and went out to ask them what they thought they were doing.

He was surprised to see that one of them was the man who had taken our address the week before. Both of them began laughing and Father welcomed the strangers into the house. In time, we became good friends. We learned a lesson we have never forgotten.
