1. Finish off the workbook. 2. Revise this unit.
2. Ask one student at a time to read out the word that does not belong to each list. Ask more able students to give reasons for their answers. Students then write their scores in the paw.
Extension activity
As a 'summary' of this unit, create some posters with students. Cut out pictures of two famous personalities from a magazine or newspaper. People that are popular with students, such as pop stars, are best for this exercise. Stick the pictures on two large pieces of card, with plenty of room to write on them.
Tell students that they must tell you what to write on the posters. For each poster, ask these questions:
What is this person's name?
What does he/she do?
What is he/she wearing? (for each item of clothing)
What colour is his~her...? (for each item of clothing)
What does that colour represent? (for each colour)
Homework
1. Explain the context and instructions for Part B. Students have to find the word that does not belong in each of Daniel's lists. Ask students to complete Part B on their own.
2. Ask students to work on their own to complete Part A. Remind them that all the vocabulary they need is provided in the box. When students have finished completing the sentences, choose two students to play the characters of Millie and Daniel. Ask them to read the completed conversation. Review any items that caused difficulties for students.
Part B
1. Tell students that this is revision and that they have already learnt these words and grammar items.
3. To allow students to check their progress and ask any questions they may still have
Background information
This section encourages students to check for themselves how well they have learnt the new language items taught in the unit. It gives them a chance to review the vocabulary and grammar items and to use them in a new context. Remind students to use some independent learning strategies such as memory charts and flash cards, for those items that need further reinforcement.
Part A
